Hey guys really sorry to find out Pat had crashed coming into Bandon today, in all the confusion it was thought that the person who came down wasn't a carrigdhoun cyclist and Pat had actually gone back to help ! Wasn't till the coffee stop in kinsale we found out what happened ! Really hope your back on the bike soon Pat! For what it's worth cheers for organising todays spin!

Cheers Brian..Road rash and no doubt I will be sore in the morning but no major injuries thank God. New helmet required though and if any one needed reminding of how critical this piece of kit is...mine had 2 severe cracks where I hit the ground....it's a right off but did the job!!! Special thanks to John o Connell and Peter Mc Dermott for taking care of me afterwards...Thanks guys. Apart from that it was brilliant to see the club so well represented... Allez CCC..

So sorry to hear about the accident Pat. Echo the same comment as Brian - unfortunately it was kinsale when we heard the true story. I am glad to hear not too much damage. Speedy recovery. Very messy spin in poor road conditions but for great charity and thanks for organising. Mind yourself :-)

I echo the previous comments and am embarrassed to say that it was kinsale before we realised it was Pat who had came off. It is very hard to keep track of a group in a sportive with people joining and leaving the group and dealing with other cyclists also. Thanks Pat for organising today and a speedy recovery to you.

Sorry to hear you came off the bike Pat,I had no idea until I just read the posts. For the shorter route I was directed to turn off just before Innishannon, onto the Dunderrow route, thought most of ye were just ahead of me,no stop in Kinsale, got back thinking I was one of the last and ye all gone home..as I drove out of Cork met most of ye coming in by the Viaduct.Signage would have been helpful,at Kinsale Post office junction, cycalists were going left & right and no steward!! Speedy Recovery Pat.T

Glad you’re ok pat. When I passed you and john sitting on the wall I thought you were just having a break so I rode on. I pulled out of the group at Innishannon for a natural break. I slipped off left at the ballinadee turn off after the bridge and about a dozen cyclists followed me!! No Marshalls anywhere. Very casually organised. I fell in with two cyclists heading towards bandon and had I not joined them they were heading for crookstown and Macroom on last years route. Great cause though and a great club turnout. Thanks to all and thanks pat for organising the club input. Hope to see you back on the bike very soon.

Good to hear you are ok Pat. It could have been a lot worse as your helmet took the impact. As Deirdre said it was a messy sportive with numerous close escapes and only for the fact that I decided to stay towards the back I mightn’t have known you had the fall. Special thanks also goes to the lads from Middleton CC who were excellent in looking after you Pat. Overall a great turnout for a very worth cause and thanks Pat for coordinating the club turnout.

Hi Pat, good to hear that you only received a few cuts and bruises and that you'll recover fairly quickly but I am amazed that nobody asked you the most important question.......IS THE BIKE OK?☺😀 seriously though I hope you do have a quick recovery.
