We have negotiated a reduced cost for bike servicing with John McCarthy in blackpool. I know that a lot of the members already use him for servicing. I have used him myself and find him briiliant and even more importantly not a rip off merchant. We have arranged a collection and drop off for the bikes in Carrigaline with john Preston. Johns address is Ferney Road, Killnagleary, Carrigaline. It is the 1st bungalow after the new entrance to the new carrigaline tennis club. You will need to ring John Preston on 0851005230 first in order to arrange the drop off. Both Johns will be attending our bike maintenance night next wednesday so if anybody has any questions, they can ask at that stage.

CANYON OWNERSOn a spin last week my front derailleur packed up and I assumed that cable had snapped. On closer inspection it was discovered a yoke called "bottom bracket cable guide" had broken. This is where the fun started, went online and could not believe the amount of problems/ issues this flimsy little f...ker causes (check online ). Have a new stronger b.b.c.g been made up at moment (not by canyon). Managed to glue the "flimsy little f...ker" together, so if any Canyon owner suffers the same issue it can be borrowed while awaiting delivery of new b.b.c.g from CANYON only?? but be prepared for a long wait.

Hi all,
need your urgent help: where can I find a good bike servicing around Carrigaline? (or as near as possible, as I don't have a car here...) Really need a good mechanic's inspection and servicing, I'm very worried about what happened this morning... and can't find what's causing it (it's not the derailleur). There's a post (from 2014) regarding a service in Blackpool and picking the bikes in Carrigaline - is that still on?
Thanks!!

David John Preston had left McCarthy cycles so that service no longer exists, there is a cycle shop in Carrigaline in where the an post office is on the cross haven road just before the GAA pitch , Fred is the mechanic and a few members in the club use him !

Hi David, I've used Fred 2 weeks ago for tyres, new chain and cassette and find him value for money.

Hi David. Local bike shop is carrigaline cycles on crosshaven road. Second right after Lidl roundabout. Shop is on right hand side opposite catalyst gym. I've used Fred for a few jobs recently and found him to be a very good mechanic.
