Hey folks.
I know by now you have ALL read the latest guidelines from CI for phase 3 of opening up sport for the country😆.
In short, my understanding of it is we need to have the following in place before we can arrange club group spins officially again.
1. We need to appoint a covid-19 officer for the club. A volunteer from the membership.
2. All members need to complete sport Ireland covid course and quiz.
3. When a spin is posted all members wishing to participate must register using CI booking system.
4. On the day of the spin... a group leader MUST be appointed.
5. The group leader must record the names of all present. Give a brief induction on behaviours re. Covid-19 to the group. Within 24 hrs he/she must email the list of participants to the club secretary.
6. The club secretary will retain the information on participants in club spins for the purpose of contact tracing should any participant in a spin become ill or develop covid-19.
7. If a participant of a spin contracts Covid-19 it is their responsibility to inform the club secretary so that others on that spin can be informed.
There is lots more involved but the above are the basics that need to be in place before we even begin.
Your committee have discussed this over the weekend and while it is everyone’s wish to get back to group riding we don’t feel members will go to all this hassle for a group ride when most are already enjoying cycling privately in smaller pods of club members and/or friends.
Or have we got it wrong?
Is there a desire out there to get back to official club group riding with all the associated covid19 requirements??
Please read the full CI email and all it’s attachments before you decide.
You’re thoughts please.
