Thanks for that Niall, I've been using TrainerRoad for a year now & they include peddling techniques in some of there workouts. Also, on longer spins they teach you to move the work from your quads to your calf muscles, this is just a short period, to give the quads a well earned break.

Do you mean pedalling out of the saddle for short periods to give the quads a break?

It's sitting in the saddle, put the main energy into the 6 to 9 o'clock section. point the toes and then draw them back from 6 to 9 o’clock in a scraping-mud-off-the-shoe motion. Handy coming to the end of a spin, when u known there's a Sprint coming up, just 30secs is enough to give the quads a break before the Sprint.
