Don’t forget! Membership renewal evening tonight. 8pm at lions club youth centre on church road. It would be great if a few members could be there for 8 or before and stay for a while. Just a few tasks to be covered plus meet n greet potential new members. It’s your club, help it grow! See you later.

I hope im posting in the right colour. But just incase the spin doesn’t hit 30+ I better post in green, orange, yellow and white just to be sure I get the right colour. A few of us are going out at 8.15 if anyone wants to tag along. Start from the pharmacy 😋

We left Carrigaline with 6 in toe on a David B’s farewell spin to Bantry. David B, Mike R, Mick Min, Niall K, Terry and I. Unfortunately we lost Terry early on due to a snapped gear cable. So 6 became 5. We climbed steady, we pedalled on the downhill and worked well on the flat everyone working equally throughout the day. As we entered Bantry it reminded me of gods kingdom as we climbed over the CAT2 climb before the decent into kilkeal. We dined in a lovely little bakery in Bantry before setting off back through drimaleague, Dunmanway, Ballineen Enniskeane and so on. I would highly recommend this route be added to the club list of routes. What a fantastic countryside we have. When god was giving out landscape he sure gave West Cork something special. Today was a very emotional one for all of us as we loose a great friend and a fantastic cyclist. David I’m glad you get to go back home to your family, it has been a pleasure to ride with you on many occasions. You are a true gent and a man with a passion that has brushed off on us all throughout your time in Ireland. I wish you well for the future and you always have many places to stay when you visit in the future. We chatted and laughed and even had time for a ice cream. This gave us the fuel to complete 186km avg a 30km + P/hr entering us into the black hall of fame with the famous 5. Without black, no colour has any depth!!!!!! 😘 Life without riding would be very boring! Ride like you’ll never ride again 🚵🏼♀️ 🤘

Yes indeed Trevor. Very well described. Ride it like you stole it! One of my best rides of the season. Knowing I was the weakest link in this black group of cycling animals was a worry to begin with but the way the ride went I was well protected and did the work when the terrain suited me, then hung on and ate the handlebars on the rough spots. If it wasn’t for that coke break in Enniskeane things could have ended very badly 😝. David B being the cycling gent that he is as usual dragged the best out of everyone without killing us off completely. An emotional goodbye at the pharmacy at the finish for a good friend and a great addition to our club which will be sorely missed. Muinnte abrigado David. Don’t be a stranger, there will always be a bed (and a bike) for you in Carrigaline.

Bon voyage Dave. Safe travels back to Portugal. No more cycling in the wind & rain 🥶. I think I speak on behalf of everyone when I say... it was a pleasure to have you as a member of our club. Best of luck for the future 😊👍

UPDATE ON CLUB BBQ SAT 21ST SEP:
With deep regret, the CCC committee have taken the decision to cancel this years end of summer BBQ.
Unfortunately we do not have enough numbers to hold this years event.
Feedback last year was excellent so the issue is not with the event itself but I understand a lot of are away or busy so we are just unlucky.
In place if this, we promise a night to remember after this years AGM. Join us after the meeting for drinks and finger food in Carrigaline Court.
Date and details will be announced shortly.
Thanks All. Deirdre & Trish
