Hey folks following on from the AGM last November it was decided that red group needed a bit of a shake up and a slight change of direction for the coming season! It is hoped that with a bit of tweaking the number of red group spins can be greatly improved upon in comparison to last year. The thinking was that it might be a good idea for whoever wanted to give the red group spins a go to start training at a orange plus pace and we all as a group work together and increase fitness levels to achieve a red group pace as the season progresses. For this to work we need anyone who is interested to share their views and ideas on making this group a success. For this reason we are planning to meet up in the corner house on Fri 10th Feb at 8.30pm for a pint and discuss the best way forward! The main aim is to get the red group numbers up and essentially a bit of enjoyment back into cycling red !.

Reminder: Will members planning to have go at RED spins please try to make the meeting Friday night. It will give guys/girls the opportunity to let their suggestions and ideas be known and discussed (arguments, yahoo ) + a few beers can also be had. One decision has already been made, for weekend CLUB red spins like a helmet CLUB JERSEYS must be worn.

Just got in a batch of 10 x Men's Jerseys, Brand New - Look Great. So if you are planning on doing lots of Red Rides and want to invest in a CCC Jersey or a second as a 'spare' please let me know. Womens Jersey's also in stock. Please refer to Club Gear for details (Prices & Sizes). While stocks last . . . . etc . . . . :-)) Regards, Ray L.

No hassle lads! I just want to give a quick update on what turned out to be a very constructive and well attended meeting last night .15 red cyclists turned up and each one offered some very positive thoughts and ideas about how the red group could move forward and evolve for the coming year ! Some of the key points to come out of it were as follows 1. The reds would now cycle more like a team/group rather than a bunch of individuals. 2. The group would climb any hills together and any cyclist who is feeling particularly strong on the climb and wants take off himself could do so but would merge together with the group again at the top of the climb. 3. When rolling up the steady pace of the group should be maintained as much as possible with the guy/girl on the inside dictating the pace. 4. More of a focus on proper cycling technique and bike skills rather than speed .5 The Wednesday evening spins during the summer could be a opportunity for some of the red cyclists to lead out some of the other groups within the club and try and help with cycling technique and bike skills so that everyone has the opportunity to improve.
It was felt that the group would now start posting under red on the message board but maintain a orange plus pace for another month or two until we gradually build up the pace together approaching the summer months. Due to the fact that the success of the red group is so important for the club it was felt that we as a group would need to meet up and assess how everything is progressing in a couple of months and maybe have another beverage or two again!!
Cheers to everyone again who were able to attend last night and let's hope it was the first step in bringing the fun back into cycling red!
